James joined Murray & Co as Head of Property in July 2025 to enhance the firm’s property expertise and lead the expansion of its property investment banking and advisory services.
Prior to joining Murray & Co, James was Managing Director at a London based real estate investment management business and he brings over 20 years’ experience in property, private equity and property funds management. James has undertaken over $3 billion of property transactions across a range of sub sectors including industrial, offices, retail and alternatives and has significant expertise in strategy formulation, investment and development, debt and equity raising and joint ventures. Prior to this, James’ was a Senior Associate in the real estate group of global law firm, Clifford Chance.
James holds a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce (Econ) from the University of Otago, has been admitted as a solicitor in New Zealand and England & Wales and accepted as an approved person by the UK Financial Conduct Authority.
