Our history
Murray & Co was established in 2004 as a specialist investment banking advisory firm to offer global expertise with local knowledge.
Today
The firm has grown its client base and reputation and is now a leading New Zealand investment banking firm providing expert financial and transactional advice to companies and other commercial entities, both domestically and offshore, and in the private and public sectors.
Background
In 2008 the firm established a private wealth management business and introduced First NZ Capital as a 25% shareholder. The wealth management business was sold to First NZ Capital in 2016, refocusing the firm on its core investment banking business. As part of this transaction, the external shareholders in Murray & Co were bought out by the Murray and Milne families. Since then, the firm has been wholly owned by its senior bankers.
In 2010 Murray & Co was an INFINZ finalist for Debt Deal of the Year, for the University of Canterbury’s listed bond issue. In 2019, we won INFINZ M&A Deal of the Year for the sale of Seequent to Accel-KKR. In 2021 we were again an INFINZ finalist for M&A Deal of the Year for the sale of Go Bus to Kinetic.
Our firm was established in Christchurch which has been an excellent base for our activities across New Zealand and beyond. In 2020 we also opened an Auckland office.
